When life gets blurry, adjust your focus.

‘When life gets blurry, adjust the focus.’

This quote (especially as a photographer) really resonates with me currently. It’s been so long since I wrote a blog, far longer than intended and there has been so much that has happened and made my current focus, ‘blurry’. So, time for a readjusting!

As you will know if you saw my posts, my 87 year old Pops was the victim of a serious carjacking incident a few weeks ago. I was at the scene within minutes and I’m not ashamed to admit, I have experienced trauma because of what I saw.  Due to the nature of the incident, there were armed police, helicopters, and that’s as much as I want to mention…as it still haunts me. The most serious injury is a bleed on the brain and need for some care in the following weeks. He is currently staying with me, but he is improving well and there will be a ‘phased return’ back to his life, albeit, things will be different, some of them will be positive changes.

It has meant my only non-teaching and mimi babysitting days are full of appointments and ‘busyness’ rather than full of creativity. My head has been full, with no space to heal from what I experienced.  But all these appointments are needed, and this time shall pass. The important thing is, my Pops is here and has recovered amazingly, when things could have been so horribly different.

So, ‘adjusting your focus’, what can that mean?

I feel I have been trudging through mud recently, mentally, and emotionally and this effects my creative brain, which therefore, effects my business. 100 post-it notes are up there in my head with wonderful ideas on and things to move forward on, but I stopped…at the start line…and that can’t continue.

With my Dad’s health improving and a new motivation to move things forward, I need to refocus and get on with the lovely ideas I have that will hopefully bring you joy and inspire you with nature and wildlife.

I believe Nature is the greatest healer. It has a remarkable way of restoring our spirits and rejuvenating our energy. Nature is a sanctuary where we can find solace and renewal amidst the (sometimes) chaos of daily life. I finally took myself out, ‘popping’ over the border into Scotland to find some sanctuary. It has helped so much.

I will be moving forward on a special offer to subscribe to, artwork and products that won’t be available on my website. Something through your post-box each month that will bring a smile to your face, joy in your heart and encourage you to ‘be still’ in nature and soak up all it can offer you. You may keep it yourself or have the joy of passing it on to someone you care about.

Keep an eye out on my posts or your inbox. Make sure you have subscribed to my website to receive updates and special offers.

Hopefully, it won’t be as long until we ‘speak’ again.

I’m so glad your Pop is improving everyday. Cherish this time you have with him and together the trauma will fade. X
