Nature Art Journalling

Discover the joy of slowing down and truly noticing the natural world through guided Art Nature Journaling walks with local artist and workshop leader Helen Sanderson.

These mindful creative sessions invite participants to connect with nature in a gentle, accessible way — whether focusing closely on the intricate details of a feather, leaf or wildflower, or capturing the wider landscape, atmosphere and feeling of a place.

Using simple sketching, watercolour, observational drawing and reflective journaling techniques, Helen encourages guests to observe with curiosity rather than perfection. No artistic experience is needed — just a willingness to pause, explore and immerse yourself in the beauty around you.

Each session offers a calming blend of creativity, mindfulness and outdoor connection, helping participants develop confidence in artistic expression while deepening their appreciation of nature.

Perfect for individuals, families, groups, retreats and visitors wanting a meaningful, restorative experience in the outdoors.

Outdoor easel painting sessions offer a chance to pause, breathe deeply and creatively connect with the landscape in front of you.

Guided by artist Helen Sanderson, participants paint directly within nature — responding to shifting skies, woodland light, rolling hills, coastlines or quiet natural details through sketching and paint.

With a strong emphasis on observation, enjoyment and personal expression, sessions are welcoming to all abilities, from absolute beginners to experienced painters wishing to refine their practice outdoors.

Helen offers both private one-to-one tuition and intimate small-group experiences for up to 8 participants, allowing for thoughtful guidance and individual support throughout.

These sessions are not simply about learning techniques, but about experiencing the restorative and mindful process of creating art within nature itself.

Prices:

  • Outdoor easel painting half-day: £75 pp (Watercolours provided, if Acrylic bring your own or ask for advice)

  • Full-day immersive art & nature retreat: £125 pp

For one-to-one tuition:

  • £45–per hour

  • Or £150 for a half day (4 hrs)
